Bio:

Maester’s Journal

Born to subsistent farmers before the War of the Ninepenny Kings, Tilion impressed a local Maester at an early age and found employment as his servant. For several years he learned how to read and write, but more importantly, he watched Maester Redwynne counsel and administer. He learned the importance of subtle language and binding oaths.

Maester Thodas arranged for Tilion to attend the Citadel in Old Town. Tilion studied shoulder to shoulder with men who would speak directly to Kings, princes, and emissaries of foreign lands. The men who would become the seneschals and stewards of the most powerful houses in Westeros. So many attended the Citadel for the love of knowledge, but Tilion sought knowledge as a means.

Upon leaving the Citadel at the age of 22, Tilion found a position with House Blacktyde. He labored trying to gain notice and favor with the Blacktyde’s, proving his loyalty over and over. Eventually he took over as Master of the Ravens and became privvy to Lord Blacktyde’s political ambitions. Wanting to see his learning used to build a dynasty, Tilion dedicated himself to the fortunes of House Blacktyde.

The glory of House Blacktyde begins, in Tilion’s opinion, with restoring law and order to the lands and the rebuilding of the castle burned in the Great Betrayal leading to Blacktyde swearing fealty to the Baratheon’s and House Tyrell.
